Super cute and super fast and fun to make is my little twinkle star. I use these primarily as little key chains to brighten someone’s day.
Abbreviations – US terms (UK terms are available via Ravelry)
CH – Chain
SC – Single Crochet
HDC – Half Double Crochet
DC – Double Crochet
TR – Treble Crochet
INC – Increase
ST – Stitch
SK – Skip
SL ST – Slip Stitch
Rep – Repeat
F/O – Finish Off
MR – Magic Ring
Materials
3.5mm crochet hook
Paint box cotton DK scrap amounts of yellow, pink for cheeks and black for smile
Fibre Filling
Tapestry Needle
Scissors
Optional 6mm safety eye
Optional key chain
Optional stitch marker
Notes
Each round is worked in a continuous round unless otherwise stated.
A stitch marker is recommended for keeping track of your stitches for each round.
Increase means to place 2 stitches in the same stitch from the previous round.
Instructions inside ( ) are to be repeated.
Key chain can be added by making a loop at the top of the star and attaching the jump ring of the key ring. I use the same yarn that I weave in my ends in order to create this.
This is a sample of the little cards that I send out with my pocket hugs.
With Yellow (make 2)
Round 1: MR 5SC OR [CH 2 and 5SC in the 1st CH] (5)
Round 2: INC in each ST around. (10)
Round 3: (INC, SC) around. (15)
Round 4: (INC, SC2) around. (20)
On one piece only – Insert safety eyes between rounds 3 and 4, approximately 3 STS apart. Embroider on facial details.
Round 5: *(HDC, DC, TRDC, HDC) all in the next ST, SK1 ST, SL ST into the next 2 STs. * Rep * * around. You have made the 5 points of the star
F/O and weave in ends.
Join both halves together with the wrong sides together. With the piece with the face facing up at you SL ST around the edge to join. Stuff lightly as you go.
Add optional key chain.
