Away back in 2017 I had written up a pattern for a flowery blanket. It is currently getting the 2021 makeover by my wonderful test group but in the meantime I came up with these super fast but very cute coasters that will compliment any table during the summertime.

Abbreviations - US terms (UK terms are available via Ravelry)

Magic  ring – MR

Single Crochet – SC

Half Double Crochet - HDC

Double Crochet – DC

3 Treble Crochet Cluster – 3TR-CL

2 Treble Crochet Cluster - 2TR-CL

Slip Stitch – SL ST

Chain – CH

Space - SP

Finish off – F/O

Back loop only - BLO

Materials

4mm crochet hook

Paint box cotton DK

This pattern can be worked with any weight and corresponding hook.

Notes

3 Treble Crochet Cluster

2 Treble Crochet Cluster

*Yarn over two times and insert the hook into the stitch. Draw up a loop.

Yarn over and draw through the first two loops. Yarn over and draw through the next two loops. * You should now have two loops left on your hook. Leave the stitch unfinished.  Rep * * one more time (3 loops on hook). Yarn over and pull through all 3 loops.

Repeat stitches * *

Stitches inside ( ) are to be placed all in the one ST

 Round 1: With yellow, MR, 8DC. (OR CH4, join to the 1st CH to create a ring.  Inside the ring, CH3, 7DC). SL ST to top of CH3 (8 DC) F/O weave in ends.

Round 2: With white, join in any DC stitch from the previous round. (CH3 or use a standing TR, 2TR-CL [counts as first 3TR-CL]), CH2, *3TR-CL, CH2* in each DC around. Join with a SL ST to top of CH3. (8 3TR-CL, 8 CH2 SP) F/O weave in ends.  (If your cluster is puffing up replace CH2 with CH3).

Round 3: With colour of choice, join in any CH2 SP. CH3 or use standing DC, 2DC in the same CH2 SP [counts as first 3DC], *3DC in next CH2 SP.  In the next CH2 SP , 3DC, CH2, 3DC)* repeat * * 2 more times.  3DC in next CH2 SP.  3DC in next CH2 SP [this is the same CH2 SP as the beginning 2DC group], CH2. Join with SL ST to top of CH3. (12 groups of 3 DC, 4 CH 2 SP)

Round 4: CH2 [counts as 1st HDC], HDC in each of the next 8 STS. *5HDC in CH2 SP, HDC in each of the next 9 STS * repeat  * * 2 more times. 5HDC in last CH2 SP. Join with a SL ST to top of CH 2. (56 HDC)

Round 5: CH1, working in BLO, SC in same ST as CH1, SC11, *3SC in next ST, 13SC,* repeat * * 2 more times. 3SC in next ST, SC in last ST. Join with a SL ST to top of 1st SC. (64 SC)

F/O and weave in ends.
